Hacks for Filing and Documentation for SSPs

“Files are like contracts. No one really needs them until there’s a problem!”
Cynthia Kyriazis
Filing and documentation is the process of writing down and cataloging critical information. This is done for transparency, and to ensure that the information is preserved and available to more people. Documentation and filing can seem completely out of reach to time-strapped harm reduction leaders who are constantly navigating what can feel like a crisis rollercoaster. At the same time, NOT doing them will, in the long run, cost the agency time and energy because without documentation, critical information gets lost.

Documentation and Filing

Disclaimer

We do not claim that this is an exhaustive set of strategies, shortcuts, or tips for running an SSP. What we do suggest is that Harm Reduction Hacks offers down-to-earth, practical information for being a better leader, starting and running an SSP, and providing syringe access services. We feel we can say this with confidence because the Hacks are based on interviews with, and the experiences of, literally generations of people who have been doing harm reduction work.
